Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Sarah Meier, Associate Athletic Director

Men’s Soccer Fall in Overtime at Westminster, 3-2

SALT LAKE CITY – Playing in their fourth overtime game of the season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer lost a 3-2 decision Sunday afternoon at Westminster College.  The loss moves UCCS to 2-3-2 overall, 1-2-1 in league games, and 1-2-1 in overtime games this season.
 
Trailing 2-0, Alex VonHolle (Midland, Texas) scored his third goal of the season at 25:41 to cut into the Griffins lead, 2-1. 
 
In the second half, VonHolle found Diego Ferradas (Aurora, Colo.) in the 88th minute to tie the game at 2-2 and send it to overtime.  Ferradas' goal was his first score of the season.
 
In overtime, the Griffins' Kaden Amano struck first to seal the win for Westminster at 95:39.
 
Freshman Marco Seyfert (Daxweiler, Germany) made his first start in goal this season.  Seyfert made eight saves after facing 14 shots in 96 minutes between the posts.
 
VonHolle tallied three shots against the Griffins (two shots on goal).  Luke White (Colorado Springs) came off the bench to add two more shots as UCCS finished the game with nine shots (four shots on goal).
 
UCCS was outshot in the game, 14-9, and 11-4 shots on goal.  UCCS edged the Griffins in corner kicks, 4-3.
 
The Mountain Lions will return home this weekend when they play host to Adams State University at 6 p.m. on Friday, and Colorado State-Pueblo on Sunday at 1 p.m.
