Three Mountain Lions Score in 3-0 Shutout over Adams State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team played host to Adams State Friday night as they shutout the Grizzlies with a 3-0 win. Three different Mountain Lions found the back of the net as UCCS played lights out defensively.

The Mountain Lions put the pressure on quickly as Diego Ferradas gave UCCS their first goal of the night off of a free kick from 18 yards out on the left side of the field. The score came in the 8th minute and became the only score of the first half. Offsides calls impacted both teams in the first half as the Grizzlies had a chance to equalize, while UCCS aimed to add another score, but both teams missed out on their chances.

UCCS capitalized in the second half, adding two more goals off of an Alex VonHolle penalty kick in the 53rd minute and a Sam Bonano goal in the 69th minute. Samuel Gomez found Bonano on the right side of the field where he hit Bonano in stride for a 10 yard shot that found the left side of the goal to make the score 3-0.

Defensively, the Mountain Lions held Adams State to eight shots and only two shots on goal. Scott Jensen was back in goal to record two saves in the match.

UCCS held the advantage in shots 13-8 and shots on goal 6-2, but the Grizzlies edged out UCCS in saves 3-2.

The Mountain Lions are back in action Sunday afternoon as they play host to CSU-Pueblo at 1 p.m.
