UCCS Shutsout Western State To Record Fourth Straight Win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After Friday night's 2-0 win, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team recorded their fourth consecutive shutout win to bring them up to a 3-0-0 conference record.

UCCS battled against Western State in Friday night's match where Tarah Patterson recorded her third multi-score game while Kaylyn Smith recorded her third shutout of the season.

The first score of the game came on a Patterson penalty kick in the 10th minute that found the left side of the net. Madison Tominello dribbled down the center of the field in the 64th minute to record her second assist on the season, as Patterson located a shot inside the right post off the Tominello pass to record the second score of the match, and bring the score to 2-0.

The Mountain Lion back line continued their defensive success as they held Western State to three shots on goal while goalkeeper Smith bagged three saves for the shutout win.

Five Mountain Lions recorded shots on goal as UCCS out-shot the Mountaineers 22-9 and held the advantage in corner kicks 7-4. Western State's goalkeeper Emilie Eckhart came to hold the advantage in saves 6-3.
