COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team drops home conference matchup against Colorado Mines 4-1. With the home loss, UCCS now sits 0-1-1 in early in conference play while the Orediggers are now 2-0-0.
Mines wasted no time in the first half after jumping on top 2-0 with two goals in the first seven of minutes of the match. The Mountain lions responded and cut the lead 2-1 as
Alex VonHolle recorded his first goal of the season off Jack Mill's first assist of the season in the 24
th minute.
From that point Mines increased and maintained their lead as Senior John Haist recorded a hat trick with all three goals in the first half. Both teams would keep each other out of goal in the second half as the Orediggers held the advantage for the game in shots (21-18), as the Mountain Lions held the advantage in saves (5-3).
Freshman goalkeeper
Marco Seyfert made his first appearance in the regular season by playing the full second half and notching two of the five saves for the second half shutout.
The Mountain Lions will look to bounce back as they hit the road for two games next week, with their next matchup against Dixie State on Friday, Sep. 21 at 7 p.m.
