COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In their 2018 season opener, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team won in overtime fashion with a score of 2-1 against Lubbock Christian on Friday night.
The visiting Chaps would strike first in the 44
th minute as Louis Callaghan struck one off of a free kick into the lower left corner of the net to give LCU their first and only lead of the night.
UCCS would battle back in the 71
st minute with a
Tankred Steinbach free kick from 20 yards that would be placed in front of goal, where
Corey Carabajal would tap it into the right side of the net to tie the match up 1-1. After a brief lightening delay at the end of regulation, the Mountain Lions would put the game away in overtime as
Alex VonHolle raced down the right sideline and centered up a cross pass in front of goal, where Carabajal would put the game away at the 95
th minute.
Carabajal finished the game with two goals, including the overtime winner. As a team, the Mountain Lions out-shot the Chaps 18 to 4.
