COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The number three nationally ranked University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team opened their regular season with a 0-0 draw in double overtime against Dallas Baptist Thursday night.
UCCS out-shot DBU 17 to 4 with
Anna Gregg leading the team in shots (6) and shots on goal (2) for the Mountain Lions. Of those 17 shots, UCCS was able to put the pressure on by stringing together three shots in both the first and second overtime while defensively, not allowing a shot from the visiting Patriots in overtime.
But, Mountain Lion goalkeeper
Kaylyn Smith and DBU goalkeeper Hope Koym would keep the match scoreless with Smith recording four saves, and Koym leading the way with six saves while recording two saves in overtime.
The strong defensive performance places both teams at a 0-0-1 record to start off the 2018 season.
