Late Comeback Propels Mountain Lions to Series Sweep

Mountain Lions win series finale on a wild pitch in the seventh inning

COLORADO SPRINGS – April 29, 2018 – Sunday's softball sweep over Black Hills state University earned the University of Colorado Colorado Springs their fifth straight series sweep and 14th win in their last 15 games.  The Mountain Lions posted a five-inning 8-0 win in game one on Sunday, and a 6-5 win in the series finale.
UCCS finishes the regular season 27-25 overall and 22-18 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
 
Taylor Reidhead led UCCS in game one in the circle, fanning 11 batters for her 13th win this season.  She held the Yellow Jackets to one hit.
 
Lexi Belligan went 3-for-3 at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring once as she went yard in the second inning.
 
Jordyn Cusimano posted one hit and scored two runs from a home run in the fourth inning.
 
Rayle Glover collected two hits on two plate appearances as UCCS finished with 12 hits.  Six of UCCS' runs came in the second inning from six hits.
 
The Mountain Lions win in the series finale came in the bottom of the seventh inning.  With the game-tied at 5-5 in the final inning, Glover scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.  She led the inning off with a double to center field.  Kylie Barnard's single to left field advance Glover to third base before she tallied the game-winning run.
 
Glover led the Mountain Lions offense with three hits and two runs scored.  Barnard added two hits, two runs batted in and a run scored.
 
Christina Patton pitched three innings in the circle, allowing four runs on five hits.  Cami Duffey earned the win after pitching the final four innings.  Duffey fanned four batters and allowed three hits.
 
The official 2018 RMAC Softball tournament bracket will be announced Sunday evening.
