Reidhead Throws No-Hitter against Yellow Jackets

Reidhead ties program record for most strikeouts in a game (15)

COLORADO SPRINGS – April 28, 2018 – Taylor Reidhead threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team to a 12-0 win Saturday afternoon in the series opener against Black Hills State University at Mountain Lion Field.  UCCS earned a 7-3 win in game two.
 
Reidhead faced 17 batters in the first game, striking out 15 batters to match a program record for most strikeouts in a game.
 
Lexi Belligan and Kylie Barnard each went yard as the Mountain Lions recorded 12 hits.  Belligan finished with three hits, three runs scored and two runs batted in.  Lexi Anderson drove in three runs and scored one run from one hit and a walk.  Defensively, she made 14 putouts behind the plate.
 
The Mountain Lions finished Saturday's sweep with a 7-3 win in game two. 
 
Alex Cook singled in the bottom of the first inning to plate Whitney Weber
 
UCCS increased their lead to 3-1 after two innings.  Melissa Martinek reached on a fielder's choice in the second inning to bring home Nobles.  Weber batted in Saleen Quinonez for the Mountain Lions third run in two innings.
 
Weber broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning after hitting a two-run home run.
 
Martinek and Reidhead combined for two more runs in the sixth inning after hitting single home runs, sealing the win for the Mountain Lions, 7-3.
 
Weber notched three hits, three runs batted in and scored twice.  Martinek added two hits, two runs batted in and scored twice. 
 
Cami Duffey recorded her 11th win in the circle.  Duffey pitched all seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out five batters.
 
UCCS and Black Hills State will be back in action Sunday morning for the final home games of the season.  First pitch of the doubleheader will go out at 11 a.m.  Following Sunday's games, the Mountain Lions will honor their six seniors.
