COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball earned their first RMAC series win on Sunday after splitting two games against MSU Denver.
UCCS downed the Roadrunners 8-7 in the first game before falling 16-12 in the second game of the day.
In the first game, the Mountain Lions rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning after trailing 7-6 with a pair of solo home runs from
Alex Cook and
Lexi Belligan to secure the win.
Cook finished the game with three runs off three hits while also driving one run in.
Taylor Reidhead was also productive, sending the ball over the fence in the third innings to earn two RBIs.
The second game saw the Mountain Lions give up a four-run lead when MSU Denver scored five runs in the fourth inning before sealing the win with nine runs in the seventh as the Roadrunners avoided the series sweep.
Lexi Anderson led UCCS with three runs and four RBIs as
Melissa Martinek also had three runs.
The split puts the Mountain Lions at 8-12 overall and 3-4 in the RMAC as they look towards this coming weekend when they travel to take on Colorado School of Mines.
