SALT LAKE CITY – Despite a late-game rally, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell on the road to Westminster on Saturday, 16-13.
Trailing by five goals with 10:14 remaining in the game, UCCS scored four straight over next four minutes to cut the Griffins lead to just one. However, Westminster scored twice with 5:24 and 4:53 remaining to seal the win.
A trio of Mountain Lions tallied four points, including
Natalie Church who had three goals and an assist. The midfielder also tallied 13 groundballs, 18 draw controls, and a pair of caused turnovers.
Madison Ellis also scored three times for UCCS as
Brianna Martinez notched two goals and two assists.
In goal,
Emma Becker made 14 saves in the setback as the Mountain Lions slip to 7-7 overall and 2-4 in the RMAC.
The team continues their road swing next Saturday when they visit Regis in Denver. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
