COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Playing a doubleheader, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team fell twice to the visiting Colorado School of Mines with score of 9-4 and 4-3.
In the first game, UCCs took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning when
Cody Norton brought home
Zach Hall on a triple to left center. Norton was then able to come home when
Matt Berg grounded out to the short stop.
However, the Orediggers scored three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead before tacking on four more in the sixth to solidify their lead.
Matthew McDermott hit a solo home run in the seventh, but the Mountain Lions were unable to rally any more than that.
The second game saw Mines take a 4-0 lead through four innings before UCCS got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Norton singled to drive in Jaimie Crabtree.
Walker Rumsey made things interesting in the sixth as he drove in Norton and
Colin Ludwig with a single up the middle to make it 4-3.
The two losses put the Mountain Lions at 16-15 overall and 10-9 in the RMAC as they look to split the series tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
