COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Playing their final game of the series against Colorado School of Mines, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs fell at home on Saturday, 14-7.
Tyler Butz helped put UCCS in the lead with a single to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning that drove in
Zach Hall to make it a 5-4 lead.
Walker Rumsey added to the lead when he sent
Cody Norton home with a single to right field.
However, the visiting Orediggers used a grand slam in the sixth to take the lead back before tacking on five more runs over the final three innings.
Joe Slocum took the loss on the mound after pitching six innings as he struck out four batters while walking only one.
Butz led the team with one run and two RBIs, including a solo homerun in the second inning.
The Mountain Lions fell to back to .500 as they are now 16-16 overall and 10-10 in the conference.
Up next is a pod series at home as UCCS hosts MSU Denver and Regis next weekend. The opener is Friday at 11 a.m. when they face MSU Denver.
