GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Playing their first RMAC road contest of the season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell to No. 22 Colorado Mesa on Thursday, 23-8.
After Sydney Malcom scored her 14
th goal of the season for UCCS, the Mavericks reeled off seven of the next eight goals to take a commanding 8-2 lead mid-way through first half.
Natalie Church led the Mountain Lions with three goals while also adding an assist to finish with four points to go along with a game-high nine draw controls as well as a pair of caused turnovers.
Kiera Lowe added two goals as
Madison Ellis recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists) for UCCS as they slip to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the RMAC.
The team travels west to take on Westminster in Salt Lake City on Saturday with game time scheduled for 11 a.m.
