COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team opened their four-game series against Colorado School of Mines with a 6-3 win on Thursday afternoon.
The difference came in the first inning when
Zach Hall blasted a grand slam over the right field fence to give the Mountain Lions a 4-0 lead. It was his team-leading 12
th home run of the season.
After giving up three runs in the third,
Colin Ludwig was brought home on single from
Efrain Medina in the fourth before Ludwig did the same in the fifth inning to bring home
Walker Rumsey.
On the mound
Colin Cicere set a program record after fanning 11 batters as the junior went eight innings, allowing just three runs on five hits to earn his third win of the season.
Brett Bowyer closed the game for UCCS, earning his fifth save of the year.
The win puts the Mountain Lions at 16-13 overall and 10-7 in the RMAC as the two teams will play a double header tomorrow inside Mountain Lion Park. Games are scheduled for 12 and 3 p.m.
