COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team continued their strong play against Adams State with a pair of wins Saturday, defeating the Grizzlies 6-4 and 11-3.
In the first game,
Jeremy Hochmuth blasted a two-run homer to tie the game up a 3-3 in the fifth inning before
Matthew McDermott doubled to right center, sending home
Matt Berg and
Scott Martinez to take a 5-3 lead later in the inning.
Bryan Chapin rounded out the scoring in the win by forcing
Jaeden Hegmann home after getting on a base off an error by the Grizzlies' second baseman.
Daniel Silva picked up his first win of the season as Brett Bowyer got the save with 1.2 innings of work.
The second game saw UCCS take an 11-0 lead before Adams State could stop the bleeding in the seventh with three runs.
Hegmann led the Mountain Lions with four RBIs and two runs off of two hits.
In all, seven players scored at least one run for UCCS.
Joe Slocum improved to 3-1 on the mound as he allowed just three runs on six hits.
UCCS looks to make it a sweep on Sunday when they wrap up the series at 11 a.m. inside Mountain Lion Park.
