Grand Slam Dooms Baseball at No. 8 Colorado Mesa

The Mountain Lions led early, but were unable to hang on in the series finale

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs wrapped-up their four-game series at No. 8 Colorado Mesa on Sunday with an 8-4 setback.

The Mountain Lions led early on 2-0 after Bryan Chapin picked up RBIs in the first and third innings by driving in Zach Hall and Efrain Medina.

However, the lead wouldn't last as the Mavericks scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead. They would then take a commanding lead in the seventh inning with a grand slam by Tanner Rempel.

The loss puts UCCS at 9-11 overall while slipping to 3-5 in the RMAC. The team returns home to Mountain Lion Park next weekend when they host Adams State. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m. this Friday.
