Baseball Falls Twice at Central Missouri

The Mountain Lions narrowly feel twice in a doubleheader against Central Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Playing a doubleheader, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team fell twice to Central Missouri on Friday.

The Mountain Lions narrowly fell in both games, falling 6-4 in the first game and 9-7 in the second game.

In the first game, UCCS rallied from a 5-1 deficit in the second inning to make it a one run game after scoring three runs in the third. However, the home standing Mules hot a home run in the fourth inning to secure the win.

Cody Norton led with two runs as Jamie Crabtree notched two RBIs for the Mountain Lions.

On the mound, Colin Cicere did his part, striking out four batters over four innings of action while only walking two. The junior gave up the six runs on just six hits.

In the second game, UCCS gave up their 6-2 lead in the fourth when the Mules scored five runs before adding another in the sixth.

Matthew McDermott homered for UCCS as he finished the game with a team-high three RBIs off of two hits.

The two losses puts the team at 2-4 on the early season as they look ahead to coming home to fave Nebraska-Kearney this coming Friday at 2 p.m.. The game is tentatively set to be played in the new on-campus field, Mountain Lion Park.
