COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team dropped the two opening games of the Dixie State Easton Classic on Thursday, falling to California Baptist and Northwest Nazarene.
In the opener,
Whitney Weber drove in
Lexi Belligan in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Mountain Lions on the board against the Lancers. But it was not enough as UCCS were already trailing by six runs.
California Baptist tacked on three more runs in the seventh inning to put the game away, taking the game 10-1.
The second game saw Northwest Nazarene score three runs over the second and third innings before UCCS got one back when
Taylor Reidhead sent a ball over the fence in the top of the fourth inning. However, the Nighthawks scored four runs in the bottom half of the fourth before winning the game, 9-1.
The Mountain Lions, who slipped to 2-3, play twice tomorrow when they take on MSU Billings at 10 a.m. before facing Concordia-Irvine in the afternoon at 3 p.m.
