POMONA, Calif. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team earned their first win of the season as they split a doubleheader against No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday.
After dropping the first game, 14-3, the Mountain Lions used three-run bursts in the first and fifth innings to help earn a 10-1 win over the nationally-ranked Broncos.
Efrain Medina led UCCS with three runs in the win while also driving in one more.
On the mound,
Joe Slocum earned the win, pitching through six innings as he struck out two batters.
In the first game,
Zach Hall homered as
Matthew McDermott drove in two runs for the Mountain Lions.
The split puts UCCS at 1-2 as they look even their record Sunday afternoon in the series finale 12 p.m. MST.
