WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – For the second time in as many games, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team set a new program record for goals scored in a game as they defeated Palm Beach Atlantic, 27-11, on Saturday.
The Mountain Lions took control of the game early as the shot to a 6-2 leaf led than eight minutes into the first half. After leading 17-9 at halftime, UCCS used a goal spurt of three more goals before scoring the game's final six goals to put the game away.
Madison Ellis led the way wish six goals as
Brianna Martinez added five goals and an assist. The two players, along with
Natalie Church (4 goals, 2 assists) finished with six points.
Emma Becker was credited with the win after playing slightly more than 51 minutes as she notched six saves for the Mountain Lions.
Ansleigh White was credited with one save over the final nine minutes of action.
The win puts UCCS at 2-0 as they wrap-up their Florida trip tomorrow with a game at St. Leo 9 a.m. MST.
