COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – the University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team climbed back to .500 on the early season with a pair of wins Saturday against Wayne State (Neb.).
The games were held at Falcon Field at the U.S. Air Force Academy as the Mountain Lions' new on campus facility is nearing completion.
In the first game,
Zach Hall homered in the third inning, driving in two runs to make it a 5-3 lead for the visiting Wildcats. Then,
Scott Martinez did the same to tie the game in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, UCCS earned the 6-5 walk-off win when
Cody Norton made if home on an error from the right fielder, who was unable to field a fly ball from Jaime Crabtree.
The second game was dominated on the mound as
Joe Slocum went five innings for the Mountain Lions, striking out four batters while allowing just one run on five hits. Slocum improved to 2-0 with the effort.
Hall and
Jaeden Hegmann each had three runs as
Bryan Chapin notched five RBIs as they cruised to a 61-4 win.
UCCS (4-4) faced Nebraska-Kearney in a doubleheader at Falcon Field tomorrow with games at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
