Men's Basketball Edge Chadron State, 74-70

The Mountain Lions were dominant late in the game to edge Chadron State

CHADRON, Neb. – After trailing for most of the game, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team edged Chadron State on the road Saturday night, 74-70.

The Mountain Lions took the lead for good with 34 seconds remaining after going on a lengthy 21-4 run, which included a dominating 16-0 that lasted nearly four and a half minutes.

After leading by just two points, freshman Isaiah Wilson sealed the with by making a pair of free throws with just one second left on the clock.

Three players scored in double digits for UCCS as Elijah Ross led with 17 points, just missing out on a triple double with nine rebounds and nine assists.

Justin Smith chipped in 15 points after going 7 of 11 from the field while being active on the defensive side of the ball with two steals and a blocked shot.

Dalton Walker continued his strong play with 12 points for the Mountain Lions.

The win put the team's record at 12-13 overall and 9-10 in the RMAC.

UCCS is off until Saturday when they return home to take on MSU Denver at 7:30 p.m. Before next week's contest, fans will have a chance to celebrate the retirement of Derrick White's jersey number 14 in a special pre-game ceremony.
