GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team suffered an 89-79 loss Friday night at Colorado Mesa University in Brownson Arena. The loss moves UCCS to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in league games.
The Mountain Lions grabbed a 6-0 lead to start the game before Colorado Mesa went on a 10-0 run to take a 10-6 lead they would not relinquish.
Three Mountain Lions scored in double figures behind
DaRaun Clark's 17 points. Clark hit 5-of-9 field goals, 2-of-3 from three-point range and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Dalton Walker came off the bench to chip in 16 points on 6-of-11 field goals.
Blend Avdili, who led UCCS with nine points in the first half, finished with 12 points.
Brandon Malone dished out a team high four assists to go with his eight points and two steals.
UCCS shot 42.4 percent from the floor (28-of-66) and 11-of-15 from the free throw line (73.3 percent).
Damon Dubots of CMU led both teams with 23 points.
UCCS will travel to Gunnison, Colo. to face the Mountaineers on Saturday at 7 p.m.
