KEARNEY, Neb. – Facing the undefeated and 11
th ranked team in Division II, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team fell to No. 11 Fort Hays State University Saturday evening, 80-52, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Crossover Classic.
The loss moves UCCS to 0-3 on the season while the Tigers improve to 4-0.
Caley Barnard gave the Mountain Lions their first points with a jumper 41 seconds in the game for a 2-0 lead.
Jae Ferrin gave UCCS a 4-3 lead less than two minutes into the game but the Tigers hit a field goal nine seconds later to retake the lead for the remainder of the game.
The Mountain Lions trailed by seven after the first stanza, 19-12, but were outscored in the second stanza by 12 points as they went into halftime down 40-21. The Mountain Lions scored 31 of their 52 points in the second half, as the Tigers netted 20 points in each of the final two quarters.
Ferrin finished the game making 4-of-8 field goals for eight points. She added a team high six rebounds.
Anna Davern came off the bench to score seven points on 3-of-4 field goals and 1-of-2 free throws.
Tatum Tellin also came off the bench to score six points as the reserve squad accounted for 25 points.

Abby Feickert's points came from three-point range as she sank 2-of-4 from long range. Feickert also recorded deuces in rebounds, assists and steals.
UCCS shot 41.2 percent from the floor (21-of-51) and 5-of-16 three-point field goals.
The Mountain Lions will return to Buckle Court Sunday afternoon with a matchup against UNK. UCCS and the Lopers will tip-off at 3 p.m. (MT).
