No. 17 UCCS Blowsout Black Hills State

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Thursday night match between the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Black Hills State University women's soccer teams turned into an offensive shootout as the Mountain Lions stung the Yellow Jackets with a final score of 11-4.

In a match that saw a combined 15 goals, seven different Mountain Lions came away with at least one goal in the contest, while also breaking numerous team and individual program records in the process (listed at the bottom).

The first half played out to be a leveled match on the scoreboard as UCCS and BHSU entered the half tied at three. UCCS posted the first and second score of the match as Amelia Junge and Savannah Mills put the Mountain Lions ahead 2-0 halfway through the first half. But the Yellow Jackets did not settle as they notched two goals of their own within a minute a part to quickly tie the match 2-2.

As time approached the 36th minute mark, the Yellow Jackets came back to score a third straight goal to take the lead for a brief moment of time as UCCS' Naomi Gurrola leveled the match once again at a score of 3-3 to head into half.

From this point, the Mountain Lions took full control of the match as Black Hills State registered one goal versus UCCS' eight in the second half.

Senior Anna Gregg could not be stopped in the second half, registering four consecutive goals and eight points in the span of 10 minutes, bringing her season point count to 28 with 13 goals.

Along with Gregg, Tarah Patterson (1), Kylie Cleary (2), and Julia Gonzalez (1) joined in on the second half action as they scored at least one goal of their own. Cleary, Mills, and Junge each recorded at least one goal and an assist in the contest.

The Mountain Lions out-shot the Yellow Jackets 36-9 while holding the advantage in shots on goal (15-7) and corner kicks (4-1).

With the win, the No. 17 UCCS Mountain Lions will host an RMAC Quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Oct. 30. To wrap up the regular season, UCCS visits Regis University on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. match.
