Men's Basketball Defeats MSU Denver, 84-72

The Mountain Lions earned a crucial road win against the Roadrunners on Tuesday

DENVER – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team picked up a road win Tuesday night, defeating MSU Denver, 84-72.

The visiting Mountain Lions took the lead for good with 5:30 remaining in the first half when Elijah Ross made a layup. In all, Ross led UCCS with a team-high 21 points and 10 assists.

As a team, the Mountain Lions shot an effective 52.8 percent while holding the Roadrunners to an even 40 percent.

Things began to click in the second half as UCCS led by as much as 19 points as the Mountain Lions have now won three straight and four out of their last five games.

Individually, Ross shot 4 of 8 from the field while making 13 of 16 from the free-throw line.

Joining Ross in double-figures were Isaiah Wilson and Justin Smith who both scored 13 points as Smith earned a double-double with 11 rebounds.

For MSU Denver, Cameron Williams led all scorers with 26 points on 10 of 24 shooting from the field.

The win for UCCS puts them at 9-11 overall and 6-8 in the RMAC as they are off until Saturday when they visit Westminster in Salt Lake City. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
