COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team rallied to defeat Wester State, 105-100, in a thrilling overtime game at home Friday night.
The Mountain Lions had trailed by as much as 19 points, but slowly erased the deficit in the second half.
Dalton Walker gave UCCS an 80-79 lead with 4:20 remaining in regulation which led to a tight finish as two teams were tied six times down the stretch. A free-throw by
Padiet Wang with less than two-second left in regulation tied the game at 90, sending the contest in overtime.
In extra session, the Mountain Lions took control of the game at the charity stripe, hitting 8 of 10 at the line to earn the win.
Dalton Walker led UCCS with 30 points after making all 12 of his free-throws and going 7 of 13 from the field, including 4 of 7 from long range. Walker earned the double-double with 12 rebounds.
UCCS also saw
Elijah Ross score 16 points while adding nine assists and a blocked shot.
Brandon Malone chipped in 14 points as
Padiet Wang added 13.
The Mountaineers were led by Quincy Harding's game-high 37 points.
As a team, UCCS shot 54.1 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from three-point range, and a solid 80 percent at the line.
The win puts the Mountain Lions at 7-11 overall while improving to 4-8 in the RMAC. UCCS is back in action tomorrow night when they host Colorado Mesa at 7:30 p.m.
