COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team picked up their biggest win of the season as they topped CSU-Pueblo, 64-51, at home in the Steel & Silver Rivalry game Saturday night.
After trailing the Thunderwolves by nine points through the first 10 minutes, the Mountain Lions held the visitors scoreless in the second quarter to take a 22-20 lead into halftime.
Then, in the third quarter, UCCS poured in 21 points to solidify their lead en route to the stunning win over CSU-Pueblo, who came into the game with an 11-5 record and 9-1 mark in the RMAC.
Lauren Bennett led UCSS with a team-high 19 points as
Kristen Vigil added nine points in the winning effort.
As a team, the Mountain Lions forced 19 turnovers by CSU-Pueblo, scoring 11 points off of those miscues.
The win puts UCCS at 5-11 overall and 5-6 in RMAC action thus far.
Up next, UCCS will host Western State this coming Friday for their annual Blackout Night game inside Gallogly Events Center.
