DURANGO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team picked up their first road win of the season, defeating Fort Lewis, 2-1.
The Mountain Lions got on the board first when
Hanna Parado scored in the 77
th minute, sending home her shot from 10 yards out on the right side off a pass from Savannah Boardman. It was Parado's second goal of the campaign.
Fort Lewis equalized a minute later when Valerie Maestas scored her first goal of the season off a shot 10 yards out on the right side.
UCCS got the game-winner on an own goal by the Skyhawks in the 81
st minute.
As a team, the Mountain Lions were outshot 11 to 10 but led 7 to 5 in shots on goal. UCCS also held the advantage in corner kicks, 3 to 0.
Tarah Patterson led the team with three shots, placing one on frame. In goal,
Taylor Proctor earned the win after making four saves.
The win puts UCCS at 5-3-0 overall while improving to 3-1-0 in RMAC action. The Mountain Lions are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Adams State at 12 p.m.
