COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team picked up their fourth straight win of the season as they shut out Westminster at home, 2-0, Friday evening.
The Mountain Lions broke through in the 8
th minute of play with
Tarah Patterson juked her defender before slotting home her shot from the left side to just inside the right post. The goal is Patterson's third of the season.
The score remained 1-0 until
Tori Maydew scored her first goal of the season in the 54
th minute after receiving a pass from the left side by
Aleesa Muir. Maydew managed to beat the goalkeeper, sending the ball to the back of the net.
UCCS was outshot in the game by the Griffins 12 to 9, but the Mountain Lions held the advantage in shots on goal and corner kicks.
In goal,
Taylor Proctor was credited with the win after making three saves in just under 73 minutes.
The win puts the Mountain Lions at 4-2-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The team is back in action this Sunday when they close out their five-game home stand against Colorado Mesa at 12 p.m.
