Men's Soccer Earns Shutout Win Over Regis

Jake Demerath and Blake Barnes scored for the Mountain Lions in the 2-0 win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team picked up their first shutout of the season with a 2-0 win over Regis.

The Mountain Lions scored their first goal of the game in the 68th minute when Jake Demerath found the ball on front of goal after receiving a pass from the right side by Daniel Brevig. It was Demerath's first goal of the campaign and fifth of his career.

Then with less than three minutes remaining in the game, Blake Barnes slotted home a penalty kick to seal the win for UCCS. The goal was Barnes' second of the season as well.

David Meyer picked up the win for the Mountain Lions after playing the full 90 minutes, making five saves.

The visiting Rangers outshot UCCS 22 to 9, but the Mountain Lions led in shots on goal (6 to 5) against Regis.

The result puts the Mountain Lions at 2-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the RMAC as they are back in action this Sunday when they host Colorado Mines inside Mountain Lion Stadium at 2:30 p.m.
