Men's Soccer Falls to Dixie State

The Mountain Lions played most of the game down a man, suffering a 5-0 setback

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Playing a man down for nearly the entire game, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team fell to Dixie State, 5-0, in a Monday morning match-up.

Mountain Lions' defender Jared Salisbury was given a red card in the 2nd minute after being called for a hand ball to prevent a goal from the Trailblazers.  On the ensuring penalty kick, senior goalkeeper David Meyer stopped the shot by Ather Dawood.

However, it took less than two minutes for Dixie State to break through when Moises Medina scored the first of his three goals when he found himself open in front of goal off of a pass by Dawood on the right side.

It remained a 1-0 lead until the second half when the visitors scored four times in the final 23 minutes to seal the win.

UCCS was outshot in the game 23 to 6 as Dixie State held the advantage in corner kicks, 10 to 4.

Jake McAllister led the Mountain Lions with two shots, putting one on frame.

In goal, Meyer took the loss with seven saves.

The result puts the Mountain Lions at 0-4-0 as they continue their six game-game homestand this coming Friday, Sep. 15 when they open their RMAC schedule against For Lewis. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
