HONOLULU – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs volleyball team opened the 2017 season with a 3-2 setback to Seattle Pacific Thursday evening at the Hawaii Classic.
UCCS entered the third set with a 2-0 advantage before the Falcons rallied to take the final three to earn the win with scores of 25-18, 25-16, 22-25, 21-25, 15-17.
The Mountain Lions were led by senior
Taylor Hamilton's 20 kills as the middle blocker ended the night with a .515 hitting percentage. Defensively, Hamilton recorded five block assists and two digs.
Grace Nelson notched 12 for UCCS as the outside hitter also tallied five block assists in the loss.
As a team, the Mountain Lions posted a .206 hitting percentage, which was slightly better than Seattle Pacific's .205 hitting percentage. The team also held a 59-58 advantage in kills.
UCCS will look to get into the win column on Saturday when they face Hawaii Pacific at 7 p.m. Friday's match against Lewis has been moved back a day due to travel issues that delayed the Flyers' trip to Hawaii. That match is tentatively scheduled to be played Saturday afternoon.
