WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team dropped their season opener, 1-0, on Friday against regional foes Texas A&M International.
The neutral site game, which was held at Midwestern State, saw the Dustdevils score the game's lone goal in the 26
th minute when Michael Iskander beat
David Meyer, who had come off his line, off a pass into the center of the box by Yair Hernandez.
UCCS was led offensively by
Sam Gomez, who totaled a team-high three shots.
Blake Barnes has two shots and both players placed one shot on goal in the setback.
Meyer took the loss after making three saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
As a team, UCCS outshot the Dustdevils 10 to 9 while also hold the advantage in corner kicks, 7 to 3.
The Mountain Lions will look to get into the win column on Sunday when they face the hosts at 1 p.m. The game is a re-match from last season when the two teams played to a scoreless double overtime draw in Colorado Springs.
