COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Playing their first home game in two weeks, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell to CSU-Pueblo, 18-5, on Saturday.
The visiting ThunderWolves pounced on UCCS early, scoring three goals in the first five minutes which led to CSU-Pueblo taking a 12-0 lead with slightly more than nine minutes remaining in the half.
Brianna Martinez got the Mountain Lions on the board at the 6:25 mark off of a feed from
Vanessa Nelson, before CSU-Pueblo scored once more in the half to make it 13-1 at the break.
The second half saw Nelson score a hat trick with goals as she continues to lead UCCS with 33 points (30 goals, 3 assists) through 11 games. Martinez also notched an assist and now has 31 points (21 goals, 10 assists) for the Mountain Lions.

Gianni Cannon caused two turnovers as
Carmen Plowman picked up three ground balls for UCCS. In goal,
Elle Scott-Williams recorded five saves for the Mountain Lions while taking the loss.
The result puts UCCS at 4-7 overall and 0-6 in the RMAC as they travel to face Fort Lewis this coming Thursday, April 13 at 3 p.m.
