COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs and MSU Denver battled in a 2-2 tie for three innings late in the game before the Roadrunners (21-20, 15-13 RMAC) scored four in the top of the ninth for the 6-3 decision against the Mountain Lions.
Bryan Chapin went three-for-four as UCCS (22-22, 17-15 RMAC) finished its final home series of the season at Spurgeon Field.
The Mountain Lions loaded the bases in the first inning with one out and scored with Chapin's hit through the left side that scored
Tyler Matheny. UCCS added to its lead with another run in the second inning after a double from
Zach Hall scored

Colin Cicere allowed only two hits through the first four innings as the Mountain Lions maintained its 2-0 lead against the Roadrunners.
MSU Denver started the fifth inning with a single and eventually loaded the bases with one out. A sacrifice fly to right field and a single to left field tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth, and it would remain tied through the eighth inning.
UCCS earned an early out with the first Roadrunner batter in the ninth inning, but MSU Denver put its next two batters on base. The Roadrunners took their first lead of the game with a double down the left field line, and a home run to right field scored three more runs for a 6-2 lead.
Scott Martinez led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk, and then took advance of a wild pitch and two balks to score. UCCS put runners on the corners with two outs and down 6-3 as MSU Denver moved its first baseman onto the mound, where he finished the game with a strikeout.
Chapin finished with his sixth game this season with three or more hits and extended his hitting streak to 18 games.
Colin Ludwig, Hall and Martinez each recorded two hits. Cicere threw 109 pitches through the first eight innings before
Joe Slocum came in for relief in the ninth.
The Mountain Lions slipped to fifth in the RMAC standings, but can clinch an RMAC Tournament berth with two wins this weekend. UCCS will finish the regular season conference schedule with a four-game series April 28-30, at Colorado State-Pueblo.
