ALAMOSA, Colo. – Playing their final road game of the season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell to Adams State, 8-6, on Saturday.
The visiting Mountain Lions led 3-1 through the first 14 minutes of the game with goals coming from
Vanessa Nelson,
Madison Ellis, and
Ellie O'Brien. UCCS tacked on two more goals early in the second half to make it a 5-2 advantage with goals from O'Brien and
Kiana Kelii.
However, it was Adams State who rallied, scoring six of the game's last seven goals to come from behind to take the win.
Both Nelson and O'Brien each scored twice to lead the Mountain Lions as Cera Cyester notched a game-high three goals for Adams State.
Kelii and Ellis each added one goal for UCCS as
Brianna Martinez had two assists on the day.
In goal,
Elle Scott-Williams kept the Mountain Lions in the game by making five saves.
The result puts the team at 4-9 overall and 0-8 in the RMAC as UCCS closes out the season at home next Saturday when they host Colorado Mesa at noon.
