Women's Lacrosse Drop First Conference Road Game at No. 2 Lindenwood

UCCS fell on the road, 19-4, to the nationally-ranked Lions in their first-ever RMAC road game

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Playing their first-ever conference road game, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell to No. 2 Lindenwood, 19-4, Tuesday evening.

The undefeated Lions dominated the first half as they went into halftime with a commanding 14-0 lead.

UCCS got on the board less than four minutes in the second half when Vanessa Nelson scored the first of her two goals off a feed from Brianna Martinez at the 27:49 mark. With the two goals, the freshman leads the team with 22 goals through nine games.

Martinez and Ellie O'Brien added one goal each to round out the scoring for the Mountain Lions, who have now faced back-to-back nationally ranked opponents.

Defensively, Martinez led the team with a pair of caused turnovers while Nelson and O'Brien each led UCCS with two draw controls.

In goal, Elle Scott-Williams notched nine saves after facing a season-high 34 shots.

UCCS slips to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the RMAC as they continue their road swing this Thursday when they visit Rockhurst (Kan.) for a conference game at 5 p.m. MDT.
