Women's Lacrosse Falls to No. 17 Regis

Vanessa Nelson led the Mountain Lions with a pair of goals in the 19-3 setback

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Facing their first nationally-ranked opponent, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell at home to No. 17 Regis, 19-3, on Saturday.

The Mountain Lions conceded 11 straight goals to start the game before Vanessa Nelson scored her 19th and 20th goals of the season to get UCCS on the board late in the first half.

Madison Ellis added the team's third goal five and a half minutes into the second half off a feed from Ellie O'Brien.

O'Brien also tallied three groundballs in addition to earning four draw controls. Defensively Breanna Martinez led the UCCS with two caused turnover in the setback to the Rangers.

The result puts the Mountain Lions at 3-3 on the year and 0-2 on RMAC action. UCC will hit the road next week as they travel to take on No. 2 Lindenwood (Mo.) this coming Tuesday, March. 28 at 6 p.m.
