COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game, 10-9, against Hope (Mich.) at home Monday evening.
With 7:03 remaining in the game, the Mountain Lions tied it up when
Vanessa Nelson scored her 18
th goal of the season, evening the score at 9-9. However, it was the visiting Flying Dutch that got the game winner at the 4:30 mark when Dana Kym slotted home her sixth goal of the game to break the stalemate.
In all the team game saw the score tied seven times as UCCS played their first-ever night game in program history.
Brianna Martinez paced UCCS with five points (2 goals, 3 assists) while also causing three turnovers and winning two draws. Nelson recorded a team-high three goals in the loss.
In goal,
Elle Scott-Williams was credited with four saves.
Both teams recorded 22 total shots as the Mountain Lions placed 20 shots on goal to Hope's 14 shots on goal.
The setback puts UCCS at 3-2 as they resume conference play this Saturday when the host No. 17 Regis at 12 p.m.
