COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – Playing their first-ever road game in program history, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team defeated Johnson & Wales, 15-2, on Wednesday.
UCCS dominated play from the get-go as the visitors shot out to a 9-0 lead before the Wildcats got on the board with 8:43 remaining in the first half. The Mountain Lions then reeled off six of the last seven goals of the game to secure the non-conference win.
The Mountain Lions were led by a trio of goal scorers as
Taylor Haller,
Ellie O'Brien, and
Kiana Kelii all scored a hat trick. Kelii added an assist to match a team-high four points in the winning effort. On the season, the junior transfer has 10 points (8 goals, 2 assists) through four games.
Grace Quinn also notched four points (2 goals, 2 assists) for UCCS.
In goal,
Elle Scott-Williams picked up her third win after making two saves.
The win puts UCCS at 3-1 overall as they continue their non-conference schedule as they return home to take on Hope (Mich.) this coming Monday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m.
