ST. GEORGE, Utah – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team picked up their first win of the season Thursday afternoon, defeating Concordia Portland 6-4, in the second game of a doubleheader.
The Mountain Lions used a four-run second inning to take a two-run lead against the Cavalier. In the top of the second,
Amanda Nobles drove in a pair of runners on a double off a hit into right center.
Nikki Hoffman then flied out, sending in another runner on the sacrifice. Whitney Webber rounded out the scoring with a single, sending Nobles to home plate.

Stephanie Chitkowski played all seven innings, striking out three batters to earn the win.
In the first game of the day, UCCS fell to Central Washington, 5-2.
The Mountain Lions took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Missy Martinek singled into right field, sending Hoffman home. The Cougars then added four runs over the next two innings to take control of the game.
Hoffman paced UCCS in the loss, scoring both runs.
The team continues their stay at the Dixie State Easton Classic on Friday when they face Montana State-Billings at 12:30 p.m. before taking on the hosts at 5:30 p.m.
