COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season Friday night as they downed Chadron State at home, 71-58.
Shanah Leaf paced UCCS with her 18-point effort after going 6 of 10 from the field while hitting 6 of 6 at the line.
Chelsea Pearson added 11 points for the Mountain Lions, who shot 40 percent from the field.
After leading 20-10 after the first 10 minutes, UCCS held the visiting Eagles to just seven points in the second quarter to head into the locker room leading by 10.
Both Pearson and Tatum Tellin led UCCS with seven rebounds.
The win puts the Mountain Lions at 1-7 overall while improving to 1-2 in the RMAC as they host Regis tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m.
