COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's basketball team fell 94-81 at home on Friday night to Nebraska-Kearney in a non-conference game.
The Mountain Lions trailed by just one point with 4:10 remaining in the game with
Jonathan Barnes made a lay-up, putting the score at 74-73. However, the Lopers were able to go on a quick 6-0 run to take command of the game down the stretch.
Three players scored in double figures for UCCS as
Brandon Malone led with 24 points after going 10 of 16 from the field and a solid 4 of 7 from deep.
Justin Smith added 14 points as Barnes chipped in 11 points.
The loss puts the Mountain Lions at 2-2 on the early season as they are off until Tuesday when they host Steel and Sliver rivals, CSU-Pueblo, in a non-conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
