UCCS earned a 3-1 win over the the nationally-ranked Mavericks at home on Sunday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A pair of converted penalty kicks helped send the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team past No. 12 Colorado Mesa, 3-1, on Sunday.

The Mountain Lions scored all three of their goals in the second half, earning the come-from-behind win against the nationally-ranked Mavericks.

The visitors got on the board first when Moshe Perez managed to beat outstretched goalkeeper David Meyer as the ball bounced off the crossbar, landing just past the endline.

However, UCCS rallied in the second half as Nathan Dee scored his first goal of the season in the 47th minute on the one-touch shot off a cross into the area by Alex Vonholle.

Meyer and the rest of the Mountain Lions were pressured most of the game as Colorado Mesa led in shots (18-11), shots on goal (6 to 3), and corner kicks (14 to 5).

In goal, Meyer picked up the win after being credited with five saves.
