Women's Soccer Defeats CSU-Pueblo in Double Overtime

Chanisse Hendrix scored the game-winner for UCCS in their regular season finale

PUEBLO, Colo. – A late goal in double overtime by Chanisse Hendrix lifted the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over CSU-Pueblo in their regular season finale on Saturday.

Hendrix scored the game-winner with less than three minutes remaining in the second overtime period when she slotted her shot to the right side of the goal in one-on-one situation. The goal is her third of the season.

The visiting Mountain Lions rallied to earn their 12th win of the season after CSU-Pueblo went up 1-0 just ten minutes into the game with Mackenzie Bean's 12th goal of the year.

UCCS equalized in the 58th minute when Madison Tominello scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Hendrix.

In goal, Taylor Proctor was called on to make seven saves to help preserve the result for UCCS, who out-shot the Thunderwolves 15 to 13.

With the win, the team now ranks second all-time in program history for wins in a season. In 2012, the Mountain Lions finished that season with 13 wins.

UCCS, who improved to 12-4-0 and 10-2-0 in the RMAC, will enter the conference tournament as the third-seed and will host No. 6-seed Colorado Mesa this coming Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside Mountain Lion Stadium.
