COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Playing their final home game of the season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over South Dakota Mines on Sunday.
The team was celebrating senior day as
Jake McAllister scored the game's final goal, his seventh, while also assisting on the second goal.
Nathan Dee got UCCS on the board in the 17
th minute, which was his second of the campaign, when the ball came off a defender in front of goal.
Mario Mandel then scored his first of the season in the 37
th minute when McAllister sent a pass into the area from the left side. Mandel found himself in space in the area, slotting his shot to the back of the net.
Mandel returned the favor to McAllister in the 52
nd minute when he sent in the ball from the right side into the area. The goal is McAllister's seventh of the year.
In goal,
David Meyer earned his 22
nd career shutout by making six saves as he now holds the program record for shutouts in a career.
As a team, the Mountain Lions outshot South Dakota Mines 21 to 12.
The win puts UCCS at 6-7-3 overall and 6-3-3 in conference action.
UCCS is back in action Oct. 26 when the travel to face Regis. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
