LAKEWOOD, Colo. – With a 2-0 shutout against Colorado Christian on Sunday, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team extended their winning streak to five games.
The Mountain Lions scored their first goal in the 10
th minute of action when
Anna Gregg sent her free kick from 30 yards out. The ball hit the cross bar, bouncing off the ground and into goal. It was Gregg's fourth goal of the campaign.
UCCS notched their second goal of the game in the 55
th minute when
Aleesa Muir sent her shot from the left side just inside the right post, picking up her first goal of the season.
As a team, UCCS led in shots (15 to 11) and corner kicks (5 to 1) as well as saves (7 to 1). However, the home standing Cougars held the advantage in shots on goal (7 to 3).
In goal,
Taylor Proctor was credited with five saves before
Grace Ramsden made two saves in relief over the final 23 minutes.
UCCS, who earned their fifth shutout, have now won nine of their last 10 games as they improve to 9-3-0 overall and 7-1-0 in the RMAC.
The Mountain Lions return home this Friday when they host No. 17 Regis, who currently sit atop the conference standings. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
