COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ā Coming off an undefeated week to open the season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team hits the road this weekend as they wrap-up their non-conference schedule.
UCCS travels to Kansas for games at Newman on Saturday before visiting No. 20 Fort Hays State on Monday. Ā

SCOUTING UCCS (1-0-1)
The Mountain Lions needed only one goal to take the win in their season opener against Lubbock Christian last Friday as
JJ Meyer found the back of the net in the 77
th minute. UCCS outshot the Chaparrals 17 to 6 in the game.
Two days later, UCCS played then-No. 7 Midwestern State to a scoreless draw, which was the best result against a team ranked in the top 10 in several years. Junior goalkeeper
David Meyer made six saves to help preserve tie.
With the two positive results, the Mountain Lions received votes in the first edition of the NSCAA Division II Top 25 Poll.

SCOUTING NEWMAN (0-2-0)
The Jets are looking to get into the win column after a pair of shutout losses last week as they fell to CSU-Pueblo, 1-0, last Friday before losing to Regis, 2-0, on Sunday.
Newman is coming off a productive 10-7-2 season a year ago as they were edged 2-1 by UCCS on Sep. 13 in Colorado Springs. Their season ended in the Heartland Conference tournament when Texas A&M International won the game in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw.
Newman hosts Southern Nazarene Thursday evening before squaring off with the Mountain Lions on Saturday.

SCOUTING FORT HAYS STATE (0-1-1)
The nationally-ranked Tigers are also looking to get into the win column this week after playing Alderson-Broaddus to a 1-1 stalemate to open the season before falling to No. 3 Rockhurst, 2-1, on Labor Day.
Fort Hays has been led by Maurizio Costa, who leads the team thus far with three points (1 goal, 1 assist) through their first two games.
The Tigers' goal keeper Michael Yantz has 10 saves to his credit while posting a .769 saves percentage.
