COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team fell to Wayne State, 3-1, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference meeting.
The visiting Wildcats took the lead less than nine minutes into the game when Natalie Rech slotted home her shot off of a direct kick by Kelsey Engstrom. Wayne State extended their lead with two more goals in the 49
th and 70
th minutes to solidify their season-opening win.
UCCS got one back with just under four minutes remaining in the game when
Bailee Jameson opened her account for the season as she sent home a 10-yard shot in the middle of the box. The junior led the Mountain Lions with five shots, putting two on goal.
In goal,
Grace Ramsden was called on to make four stops for the Mountain Lions after facing 14 shots.
The team is off until next Sunday when UCCS hosts their final non-conference game of the season when Emporia State visits for an 11 a.m. showdown.
